Five33 UAS4STEM Beginner Kit

Build it. Program it. Fly it.

The Five33 UAS4STEM Beginner Kit is a complete 4-inch quadcopter build kit designed for students entering the UAS4STEM Beginner division. The kit is built around proven, industry-standard components, so teams learn on the same kind of hardware used in real-world UAS work. Students assemble the airframe, wire the electronics, configure the flight controller, and take to the air with a GPS-capable drone they built from the ground up.

At the core is the Holybro Kakute H7 flight controller, a powerful H7-based board that runs ArduPilot. That gives students access to the same open-source autopilot used in professional and research drones, with features like GPS position hold, return-to-launch, and autonomous waypoint missions as their skills grow. Paired with the Holybro Micro M9N GPS module, the kit supports reliable multi-constellation satellite positioning and an onboard compass, which opens the door to navigation and mission-planning challenges well beyond basic stick flying.

Power is handled by the Holybro Tekko32 F4 4-in-1 50A ESC driving four VCI Spark 1605 3350KV motors. On 4S power with 4-inch props, the setup delivers responsive, efficient flight with plenty of headroom for a beginner platform. The stacked 4-in-1 ESC keeps wiring clean and simple, which cuts down on build errors and makes troubleshooting easier for new builders.

Control link is provided by the EP1 ExpressLRS receiver, a compact 2.4GHz receiver known for low latency and solid range. ExpressLRS is open source and widely supported, so teams can bind to a broad range of compatible transmitters.
